Creative Yaad Hotel and Cultural Center is an attempt to combine hospitality with education to revitalize the area of Downtown Kingston in order to promote economic growth, attract local and international investment, strengthen tourism and stimulate job creation. By coaching and supporting local artists, musicians, and artisans while showcasing the nation’s heritage, this cultural destination will foster a thoughtful and immersive educational experience for tourists and locals alike. The central concept is using Jamaican cultural expression and vernacular design features to create an authentic and engaging Jamaican hospitality experience that blends Jamaica’s rootsy make-shift urban environments with the relaxing and nature-rich ambiance of the island’s rural areas. By pushing and pulling, adding and subtracting, and mixing and matching, as is the Jamaican way, I intend to create rich experiences to seamlessly combine hotel and cultural center in an effort to enhance literacy, foster sustainability and build community.
