Casa de Luz will function as a transitional home and resource center for immigrant & refugee Latin American women and their children. The design of the center will provide a safe and supportive environment for these women to access a variety of services geared towards their transition to American life, citizenship, community engagement, and healthcare. Implementation of materiality and biophilic elements will encourage women to empower themselves and others in a welcoming community of diversity.

Casa De Mariposas is a significant name for the project as it translates from Spanish into "Butterfly House". Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, life, and courage to embrace the transformation to make life better.
