Frank Lloyd Wright was a pioneering American architect, designer and at heart, a fine artist; He created entirely new types of architecture. Wright created twelve of the Architectural Record’s hundred most important buildings of the century and his designs were always aligned with cultural values. In NYC, he is best known for his groundbreaking design of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. In this lecture, we will review his life, considering both his impact and his legacy in shaping the future of living spaces. Buildings and Homes in the New York area talked about are the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Usonia Historic District homes (the Edward Serlin house, the John Rayward house, the Roland and Ronny Reisley House and the Sol Friedman House), the Darwin, D. Martin House, and the Socrates Zaferiou House.
