This interactive online program for students entering 9th-12th grade offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of interior design from the comfort of your own home. Experience exclusive Zoom sessions, GoPro tours of designers' offices, showrooms, and museums, as well as live virtual chats with leading designers and other engaging events. Dive into the creative process and gain insights into the design industry—all without leaving your personal space!

Tuition:
Online: $2,025 per course
If a student registers for both Pre-College I and Pre-College II at the same time, they will receive a 10% discount on the tuition for Pre-College II. Total for both courses: $3,847.50

New York School of Interior Design’s Summer Pre-College program offers high school students the chance to experience and understand life as a designer. It’s the perfect way to learn how your passion can become your profession.
As a Pre-College student, you’ll learn the fundamentals of interior design from the same professional designers who teach the College’s undergraduate and graduate classes. You will participate in real-time sessions and take advantage of everything New York City—the design capital of the world—has to offer through virtual tours and live Q&A sessions with industry leaders.

Earn College Credits: Seize the chance to earn one college credit applicable towards an undergraduate degree at NYSID or for inclusion in your future college applications.
Hands-On Learning: Master essential design skills such as understanding floor plans, basic drafting, developing design concepts, and creating dynamic color schemes through interactive online modules.

PC 040 Pre-College: Interior Design I

Design your dream apartment! Learn the basics of furniture placement, color and textiles, lighting and putting together a whole interior design scheme. Get your first taste of what it’s like to study and practice interior design!
PC 041 Pre-College: Interior Design II
On-site & Online
Imagine that you’re a hospitality designer, and craft a boutique hotel lobby or small cafe. Let your imagination soar as you come up with a design concept for a great hotel or café, and design a cool lobby or cute eatery. (Pre-College I is a prerequisite for Pre-College II.)
PC 045 Pre-College: Digital Arts Lab
On-site only
Explore your creativity through computer-based art-making. Jumpstart your digital skills to create a great project for a portfolio, working in video, photography, animation, painting, or sculpture.
PC 048 Pre-College: Photography in the City
On-site only
Explore New York City’s great architecture while learning. Using either smartphones or digital cameras, you will capture renowned sites such as Hudson Yards, the High Line, and Central Park — no experience necessary!
