Two NYSID students win the 2011 Angelo Donghia Foundation Scholarship Award
New York, NY -– June 29, 2011 – Gunnhildur Gudnyjardottir and Yeong Hoon “Eric” Kim, senior BFA students at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), have won the 2011 Angelo Donghia Foundation Senior Scholarship Award. Gudnyjardottir and Kim will each receive a $30,000 scholarship to help cover the cost of tuition, room and board, books and other materials.
"On behalf of the NYSID community, we congratulate Gunnhildur Gudnyjardottir and Yeong Hoon "Eric" Kim on winning this prestigious award," said President Christopher Cyphers. "We are exceedingly proud of these two students whose outstanding work was chosen from a highly competitive field of submissions from colleges and university across the U.S. We are also grateful to the Donghia Foundation for its generous support of interior design education. A total of 12 NYSID students have won a Donghia scholarship since the program's inception in 2002."
The 2011 scholarship was awarded to 12 individuals chosen from interior design bachelor’s degree programs across the country. The jury was comprised of 13 distinguished professionals in the field: Michael LaRocca of Michael R. LaRocca Ltd.; Jamie Drake of Drake Design Associates Inc.; Carolyn Englefield of Veranda Magazine; Rina Root of The Root Group; Vincente Wolf of Vincente Wolf Associates, Inc.; Cheryl Tague of Core Home Inc.; Michael Devine of Michael Devine Home; Michele Keith of Michele Keith Writes; Jeffrey Simpson, Writer/Editor; Ernest De La Torre of De La Torre Design Studio; T. Keller Donovan of T. Keller Donovan, Inc.; Tom Scheerer of Tom Scheerer, Inc.; and James Andrew of James Andrew Interior Design.
